(CNN)-- A new national poll suggests that three out of four Americans feel President Bush's departure from office is coming not a moment too soon.
Twenty-eight percent of those polled say President Bush is the worst president in U.S. history.
Seventy-five percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Friday said they're glad Bush is going; 23 percent indicated they'll miss him.
"Earlier this year, Bush scored some of the lowest presidential approval ratings we've seen in half a century, so it's understandable that the public is eager for a new president to step in," said Keating Holland, CNN polling director.
CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider added, "As President Bush prepares to leave office, the American public has a parting thought: Good riddance. At least that's the way three-quarters feel."
====================
Good riddance, indeed. But what's next?
He's coming back to Dallas and an SMU freshman is making money selling signs that say welcome to the neighborhood. Haven't driven by the house yet but will when V gets here.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't agree with the content, but I guess that it beats selling magazine subscriptions.
ReplyDeleteWhere do these polls take place. I've never, in my 60+ years, been asked to participate in a poll. So, as far as I'm concerned, polls "don't mean s@*t".
ReplyDeleteI agree Vicki. Plus they never publish the questions so we have to accept on blind faith that the interpretation of the poll results is fair and accurate.
ReplyDeleteSo, neither of you agree that this asshole was the worst President EVER? What a laugh!
ReplyDeleteI think that too many Americans lack an objective view of President Bush. I don't have the same knee jerk hatred or love of the President or the job he has done. I also think you cannot fairly assess a presidency for at least twenty years after historians and journalist have access to the presidential records and to assess the long term impact of the President's decisions and policies.
ReplyDeleteBuchanan was the worst in my opinion.
20 years from now I'll be dead, so now is the time to speak up while it's still fresh, and I don't believe that's true anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for never being called to participate in polls, The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll was conducted December 19-21, with 1,013 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Since the population of the U.S. is currently 305,519,154 it might take up to 302,000 phone calls before they got to you. Less if you get lucky.
