That representation of Jesus is a graven image, and probably done by someone who holds to Armenian doctrine. A Calvinist would not stoop to disobey one of the Ten Commandments.
2nd. Commandment, Exodus 20:4 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water below.”
Old Testament punishment- Deuteronomy 27: 1 5 “Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image.” That’s right kids don’t EVER draw, sculpt or paint or else god will curse you. Wanna be an artist, a photographer, take a picture of yourself or family? TOO BAD, god says no! You better drop out of art class before he smites you with boils.
Don't worship any graven idols? I don't think I've ever been in a church without a crucifix. Some of them depict particularly gooey deaths. What the heck distinguishes them from graven idols?
(Note: See also the slaughter that ensues after Moses finds out that Aaron's followers have been worshipping the golden calf idol.)
Shame, shame Jeebus.
ReplyDeleteWell, I must be a man as I have short hair - and no glory.
ReplyDeleteYou may well be, for all I know.
ReplyDeleteOkay, next time . . .
