The Texas Constitution - wrong on SO many levels

Article 1 - BILL OF RIGHTS

Section 4 - RELIGIOUS TESTS

No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being.

  2. There is also a law on the books stating it's against the law to carry wire cutters in your back pocket!

  3. I can understand that law a helluva lot more than to have one of the requirements of holding office to believe in an invisible being, an invisible "Supreme" being. Hell, wire cutters can have any number of nefarious purposes, and I guess that they could always carry them in their front pockets. Why not just have the candidates believe in unicorns? THEY are in the bible at least. (And talking serpents and donkeys and ghosts, but that's a whole other issue.)
