Major Case Squad Activated For Death Investigation in Columbia, IL

COLUMBIA, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - The Major Case Squad has been called to the scene of a possible triple murder in Columbia, Illinois. There is still a strong police presence in the 2800 block of Robert Drive in Columbia, however police are being very tight lipped about their investigation. A neighbor tells FOX 2 that a man who lives in the house came home from his overnight shift at Joyce Meyers Ministries around 6:30 or 7 a.m. Tuesday.

When he went into the house he found his wife and two boys dead. The man then apparently dialed 9-1-1.

Neighbors say the father was extremely distraught. Police had to hold him down when they arrived. Columbia police chief Joe Edwards could not confirm those details but say they are investigating a death case and that the Major Case Squad has been activated.

"Anytime a death investigation like this comes to light, we want to make sure that we put the highest, or the largest amount of manpower towards a case like this, that we possibly can. That is why we've activated the major case squad and asked those additional investigators to come and assist us with this scene," Chief Edwards said.

  1. Some cases just grab at you. This is just awful. Hopefully, since they received threats it will be solved, but that won't be any comfort to that poor father.
